Maraging 300 alloy steels material (also referred to as Maraging C300® and Vascomax® C300) is a vacuum induction melted and vacuum arc re-melted, low-carbon, nickel-cobalt-molybdenum high-temperature nickel alloy. This material can produce yield strengths in excess of 270 ksi (1862 MPa) through simple, low-temperature heat treatment at 900°F (482°C). Maraging steel 300 also exhibits good ductility at high strength levels, displays excellent notch ductility and outstanding weldability.
At Magellan Metals, we are industry-leading Maraging Alloy Steel 300 manufacturers. Maraging 300 Alloy Steels Features
Magellan Metals' Vascomax® 300 is a nickel/cobalt steel alloy that is essentially carbon-free, other alloying elements include moly, aluminum and titanium. This combination creates a superior maraging steel that maintains numerous beneficial features, including:- Extremely tough
- Relatively soft
- Maintains high strength & toughness
- Ultrahigh tensile strength
- Resists corrosion & crack propagation
- Excellent cleanliness & polishability
- Readily weldable
Maraging 300 Alloy Steels Material Properties
Due to its low carbon content, Maraging steel 300 provides good machinability and the ability to be cold-rolled up to 90% without cracking. This material also provides excellent weldability when aged following treatment to the heat-affected zone. Additionally, Maraging 300 Alloy Steels meet the following specifications:- AMS 6514
- ASTM A 538
- MIL-S-46850D
- UNS K 93120
Maraging 300 Alloy Steels Material Applications
Maraging steel's strength and malleability in the pre-aged stage allows it to be more easily than other steels, reducing weight for a given strength. Maraging 300 also maintains very stable properties and will only soften slightly when overaged due to excessive temperature reception. This material also has an excellent strength-to-weight ratio so it can be used for numerous defense and military purposes. Some of the applications that Maraging C300 is generally used for, include:- Missile & rocket motor cases
- Munitions
- Landing gear components
- Aerospace
- Extrusion tooling
- Die casting
- High performance shafting, gears & fasteners
