Monel 400® is an alloy of nickel and copper, commonly used in critical, high-performance applications. It exhibits high strength, excellent resistance to acids and alkalis, good ductility, and good thermal conductivity. Monel 400® is suitable for temperatures ranging from subzero to 1,000°F (538°C), and can only be hardened via cold-working.
As it contains the same quantities of nickel and copper content as the naturally-occurring nickel ore extracted from the Sudbury mines in Ontario, Canada, Monel 400® is considered a “puritan alloy.” This designation makes it unique among Monel® alloys.
