Monel K500® provides the corrosion resistant properties of Monel 400® with added strength and hardness. Increased quantities of aluminum and titanium are added to the nickel-copper base, and heated under controlled conditions to precipitate submicroscopic particles of Ni3 (Ti, Al) throughout the matrix. However, age-hardened Monel K500® is more susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking than Monel 400®
Monel K500® wire exhibits low corrosion rates in high velocity seawater, similar to Monel 400®. Monel K500® wire is also resistant to sour gas environments.
